What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is an injectable dermal filler and collagen stimulator. It is the only facial injectable dermal filler that uses Poly-L-Lactic acid (PLLA), which has been safely used for the past two decades in resorbable stitches. Sculptra is biocompatible (it doesn’t harm your body) and biodegradable (it is able to be broken down within your body) and is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as safe for use in the human body.
How Does Sculptra Work?
Sculptra is delivered in the form of an injection which places PLLA particles under your skin. These particles trigger a reaction in the body which stimulates the production of new collagen in the area.
The new collagen builds in your body over time, meaning the results of using Sculptra are gradual and natural, making it ideal for those who want to subtly improve the shape of their face.
Results can last up to two or three years and Sculptra also contains properties to keep your skin more elastic and hydrated.
For best results, you will usually need three injection sessions that are spaced about six weeks apart.
How is Sculptra Different from Other Dermal Fillers?
There are many dermal fillers on the market, but Sculptra is different in these important ways:

Recovery Period
As you are treating only the cheekbone areas of your face, there is not usually a recovery time with Sculptra treatments beyond the day of the procedure. After the treatment, you should relax and apply some ice packs to the cheekbone areas. The following day, you should be ready to return to your normal activities.
