What are the Best Wrinkle Fillers for Removing Crow’s Feet?

There’s nothing unusual about having crow’s feet – and there’s nothing unusual about wanting them gone. The good news is that there are numerous wrinkle fillers that can help remove or reduce the appearance of crow’s feet, the wrinkly lines that develop around the eyes with aging.

But what are the best wrinkle fillers for crow’s feet? At San Diego Cosmetic Laser Clinic, we’ve taken a look at the top options on the market and offer the following recommendations.

Over-the-counter and prescription wrinkle fillers

There are many eye creams made with retinol that can help you reduce the appearance of crow’s feet and help prevent crow’s feet. Known by over-the-counter brands like RoC Retinol Correxion, and prescription brands like Renoval, this is an affordable option that can be done daily. However, there’s one disadvantage – it isn’t as effective as other, more expensive, methods. The results are often minimal and the best results are seen by women (and men) who started using these creams before they started actually seeing their crow’s feet.

Dermal fillers from your cosmetic doctor

There are numerous wrinkle fillers that can help with reducing the appearance of existing crow’s feet, but you’ll need to visit your local cosmetic doctor. The four most popular options are:

1. Collagen

This is a protein that’s a huge part of many tissues in your body – including your skin. Purified collagen that’s used in these dermal fillers can come from cows or human cells, and their effects tend to last for about three months. Compared to other injectable wrinkle fillers, collagen doesn’t last nearly as long.

2. Calcium hydroxylapatite

This is a particular type of mineral that can be found in the teeth and bones. When used to fill wrinkles, the particles are put into a gel-like solution, which is injected into the wrinkle. This option lasts about a year-and-a-half. While it’s still working, the calcium hydroxylapatite may be visible in x-rays.

3. Poly-L-lactic acid

Also known as PLLA, poly-L-lactic acid is biodegradable, biocompatible, and man-made. This polymer can be used in several ways, including in stitches and bone screws. It is also effective as a dermal filler. The doctor gives a series of injections, usually over a few months. The effects become apparent over several weeks and they can last as long as two years.

4. Hyaluronic acid

Believe it or not, hyaluronic acid is a kind of sugar. It’s naturally present in a variety of body tissues, including both cartilage and skin. It combines with water and swells when it’s in gel form, which then has a natural smoothing and filling effect. This acid can be found in certain bacteria and in rooster combs. In some cases, hyaluronic acid is combined with other dermal fillers to make it last as long as possible. Without being paired with other dermal fillers, it will last about six months to a year.

Which type of wrinkle filler will work best for you?

Now that you understand the basics about several different dermal filler options, you’re likely wondering: which one would work best for me? The truth is that there isn’t just one dermal filler that’s best for all people. That’s why you should consult with Dr. Parvin Mani at the San Diego Cosmetic Laser Clinic.

During your consultation, Dr. Mani will learn more about you and your goals. She will learn about what you’re looking for, what your concerns are, and what your medical history is. Only then will she present the options that may work best in your case.

Do you want something that works right away, but don’t necessarily need it to last for two years? Or are you willing to wait several months for a treatment to reach its full potential as long as it lasts for years to come? No matter what your goals are with removing crow’s feet, we are here to help you. Please contact San Diego Cosmetic Laser Clinic today!
